Virginia H. Hinz, 95, of Merrill, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill. Virginia was born April 6, 1923 in Merrill, daughter of the late Herbert and Helen (Schmidt) Smith. She married Earl Hinz on May 8, 1948 in Merrill. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2008. Virginia worked as a glass cutter at Semling & Menke in Merrill for 18 years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. Virginia enjoyed traveling with friends and really enjoyed the trip they took to Alaska. She also enjoyed camping and taking an occasional trip to the casino. She was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears and Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Raasch of Merrill; sons, Earl ‘Butch’ (Shirley) Hinz of Merrill and David (Diane) Hinz of Hamburg; eight grandchildren, Laura Erickson, Jean Daley, Tami (Chad) Travis, Jon Hinz, Jennifer (Doug) Nacker, William Hinz (friend, Lela Bowser), Amy Hinz and Sara Hinz; seventeen great-grandchildren, Justin, Travis, Heather, Denver, Lazlo, Leilend, Kaitlin, Emily, Rachel, Damian, Evan, Trent, Charlotte, Hazel, Carter, Kirklin and Ben; sister, Phyllis Fehr of Merrill; step-sisters, Bonnie Heller and Donna Mielke both of Merrill; and step-brother, James Krueger of Wausau. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hinz; parents, Herbert and Helen Smith; grandson, Daniel Erickson; and step-brother, Kenneth Krueger. The Funeral Service for Virginia will be at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Matthew Bless will officiate. Burial will take place the following day in Snow Hill Cemetery, Town of Scott. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
