Roseann J. Schotz, age 76, of Merrill, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 27th at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by family. Roseann was born January 3, 1945 in Merrill, daughter of the late Theodore and Mabel (Allen) Middlestead. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Schotz, on July 6, 1963, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 2019. Rose was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidery. She would make homemade gifts for family, friends and neighbors. Rose had several jobs outside of the home but her favorite was a ceramic shop that she and her husband did together. She enjoyed traveling, and visited Hawaii, New York, Tennessee, Michigan, and South Dakota. She is survived by two daughters, Vicky (husband, Douglas) Berndt of Merrill and Lisa (husband, Scott) Theese of Cumberland; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; her son-in-law, Patrick Duginski of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, and husband, Roseann is preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Duginski; two sisters, Phyllis Hass, Beverly Plautz; and four brothers, Charles, Theodore E Jr., John and Eugene Middlestead. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. Father Jayanna Kanna will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9AM until 10:30 AM on Wednesday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, 903 E. Third Street, Merrill.
