Roger Walter Mootz was born on October 8, 1950 in Merrill, WI to Walter H. and Alice M. Mootz. Roger passed away on January 13, 2021 due to end stage renal disease. Roger is survived by his wife, the girl of his dreams, Gay Ann Mootz of 38 years of marriage, Son Walter Thomas and his wife Tiffany Ann and their sons Sullivan Walter and Lincoln Walter, his son Kevin Walter, his sister, Mardell Pagel and her husband Thomas, and brother Ronald Mootz Sr. and his children Kimberly Landwher and her husband Ryan and their children Briah and Maci, and Ronald Mootz Jr. Roger is also survived by sister in-laws Katherine Baumann, Bonnie Thurs, Lynda (Mike) Kropp, Wanda Kleinschmidt, Lois (Lee) Schmidt, Rebecca Kleinschmidt, Laurie Kleinschmidt, brother in-laws Virgil (Sherry), Dean (Peggy Gruetzmacher) Kleinschmidt, Brian Kleinschmidt, and Jonathan (Rebecca) Kleinschmidt, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and his special furry grand pups Ganon and Scout. Roger is preceded in death by parents Walter and Alice Mootz, in-laws Milton and Vernette Kleinschmidt, Brother in-laws Jeffery Baumann, Richard Thurs, Sr., Daniel Kleinschmidt, Joel Kleinschmidt, Thomas Kleinschmidt, and sister in-law Devon Kleinschmidt. Roger spent the majority of his working life at Murray Machinery in Wausau, WI for fourteen years and Federal Mogul in Schofield, WI for sixteen years. Roger’s favorite past times were shooting in the National Rifle Association High Powered Rifle Competition and International Metallic Handgun Silhouette Shooting Competition, both big boar and small boar, and dabbled in international practical shooting competitions. He also enjoyed bear and coon hunting with his father, brother, and their hounds Bugler, Queen, and Lady. Roger also enjoyed mule deer, elk, antelope, and prairie dog hunting in Colorado and Wyoming and his hunting trips to Minnesota and Michigan with his father. He also enjoyed hunting with his sons, but his greatest joy was taking his five-year-old grandson Sullivan on his first deer hunt. A celebration of life will be on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Corning Town Hall, N1569 State Road 64, Merrill.
