Peggy J. Gibson, age 84, of Merrill, died Monday, January 4, 2016 at her home. Peggy was born February 12, 1931, in Merrill, daughter of the late Ervin and Eleanore (Schreiber) Lutzke. She married Ralph Gibson on October 17, 1953 at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. He survives. Peggy had worked various jobs around Merrill; however, her favorite job was taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to read, work on puzzles, play Sheephead and Canasta with her card club, and visit her son in Texas. Peggy also liked watching the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. Survivors include her husband, Ralph Gibson of Merrill; her daughter, Ellie (Ray, Jr.) Schwartz of Merrill; her son, Ralph Gibson, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; two granddaughters, Lieutenant Colonel Jennifer (David) Sitz of Redondo Beach, California and Kristin (Sergeant 1st Class Branden) Harland of Merrill; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brenden, Lucas and Ella; and her sister-in-law, Byrdine Lutzke of Merrill. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Eleanore Lutzke; and her brother, Donald Lutzke, Sr. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 8, 2016 at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. The Rev. Missy Holdorf will officiate. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Town of Rock Falls, Lincoln County. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 9:30 A.M. Friday at the church.
