Norman L. Saxby, 80, of Merrill, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at his home under the care of Compassus Hospice surrounded by his family.
Norman was born on May 21, 1942, in Vernon County, son of the late George and Minnie (Kleinschmidt) Saxby. He married Joyce Oestreich on June 2, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. Norman “Red” worked at Semco Windows and Doors for 46 years, he began by working in the plant, then drove semi-truck across the country for 25 years, and eventually became the Plant 1 Manager until his retirement in 2007. Norman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, trips to Canada in which he camped and fished, spending time with his grandchildren, and playing concertina in his earlier years.
Norman is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Saxby of Merrill; daughters, Debra Saxby of Medford and Sharon (Eugene) Willfahrt of Mosinee; grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Thiel, Jesse Thiel, Caryn (Jeremy) Thiel, Joshua (Tia) Daley, Nikole (Troy) Knight, Andrew Moser, Jackie (Mark) Willfahrt, Kraig Willfahrt, and Kandie (Scott) Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Tony, Harrison, Caleb, Charlotte, Jaden, Brett, Taylor, Lexi, Evalyn, Elijah, Sawyer, August, Bennett, Chris, Savannah, Draven, Rhianna, Kaitlin, and Ashley; and sister, Margy Seeger of Cottonwood AZ. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, George and Minnie Saxby; sisters, Virginia (Fred) Roum, Ione (Marvin) Lemmer, Elaine (Roy) Kleinschmidt, and Baby Leila Jean Saxby; and brother-in-law, William Seeger.
The funeral service for Norman will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Monday at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
