Martin E. 'Bud' Hall

December 21, 1926 — January 30, 2020

Martin E. ‘Bud’ Hall, 93, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Martin was born December 21, 1926, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, son of the late Martin and Lula (Hurd) Hall. He married Jean Wold on April 17, 1948. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2011. Bud enlisted in the United States Navy on January 1, 1944 and served during World War II in the European theatre and the Pacific theatre. He was honorably discharged on January 20, 1946. Bud was proud to serve our country and was a member of Wausau American Legion Post 10. Bud worked as a plan engineer at General Motors. He began his career with GM working at their AC-Delco division in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. He and his young family moved to Michigan where he continued working with the company. He eventually retired from GM after working there for more thirty years. Bud liked to hunt and on took several trips to South Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado to hunt Whitetail Deer and Mule Deer. Bud was a gun enthusiast and made his own ammunition. He also enjoyed traveling to Lake Gogebic to fish for Walleye. He enjoyed golfing after retirement and was a member of the American Legion Golf Course in Wausau. In his younger years, Bud was a Boy Scout leader and a Little League baseball coach. Survivors include his sons, Jeff (Darlene) Hall of Merrill and Kevin (Sue) Hall of Carleton, Michigan; grandchildren, Matt Hall, Catie Pfeiffer, Rhianan (Jesse) Kenyon, James (Kimberly) Hall, Ryan (Jacque) Multerer and Jacob (Nicole) Multerer; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Colton Multerer; sister, Violet Krueger of Merrill; brother, Roland (Melita) Hall of Merrill; sister-in-law, Kay Hall of Merrill; and several nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Hall; parents, Martin and Lula Hall; son, Bruce Hall; granddaughter, Jennifer Hall; siblings, Jean (Doug) Cole, Everett (Margaret) Hall, Donald (Marion) Hall, Richard Hall and infant Brian Hall; and brother-in-law, Frank Krueger. The funeral will be at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Lucas Williams will officiate. Entombment will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside Military Rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1638 Honor Guard, Merrill. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
