Marion D. Simon

Marion D. Simon, 89, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Marion was born July 15, 1933, in the Town of Corning, Lincoln County, daughter of the late Louis and Viola (Grawien) Langhoff. Although Marion did not graduate High School, many years later, she received her G.E.D. along with several of her sisters. She married Richard ‘Dick’ Simon on April 14, 1956. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2016. Marion was a daycare provider to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and several other local families. She had also worked as a cook at several restaurants in the Merrill area. Marion enjoyed embroidery, fishing, cooking, watching Little League games, gardening in her flower beds, and going for car rides. She loved sitting on her swing in her backyard and watching the birds in the bird bath. Marion was a Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan.

Survivors include her five children, Larry (Phyllis) Simon, Susan Spoehr, Warren (Virginia) Simon, Robert Simon, and Lynette (Dale) Dittmar, all of Merrill; ten grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica) Simon, Christopher (Jenny) Simon, Ginger (Aaron) Osness, Travis (Stephanie) Spoehr, Jesse Spoehr, Trevor Spoehr, Suzanne (C.J.) Coleman, Stephen Simon, Brittany (Tyler) Grams, and Mitchell Dittmar; six great-grandchildren, Devon, Sophie, Easton, Katelyn, Parker, and Scout; two sisters, Shirley Borchardt of Merrill, and Clarice (Ervin) Boehm of Wausau; one brother, Louis Langhoff, Jr. of Oshkosh; two sisters-in-law, Louise Zahn of Shawano and Mardell Simon of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Richard ‘Dick’ Simon; parents, Louis Sr. and Viola Langhoff; son-in-law, Mark Spoehr; great-granddaughter, Taylor Osness; siblings, Margery (William Klammer) Klammer-Buffinton, Vernette (Milton) Kleinschmidt; Isabelle ‘Issie’ (Robert) Hoff, Jean (Lawrence) Bubolz, and Florence (David) Langhoff’ and her in-laws, Geraldine Langhoff, LaVern Borchardt, Glen Buffinton, Stephen (Evelyn) Simon, Edward (Elaine) Simon, Margaret (Joe) Wildman, Clyde Zahn, Rosalie (Vinol) Bergman, and Herbert Simon.

The funeral service for Marion will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Greg Laska will officiate. Interment will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 3, 2023, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
