Lorena J. 'Lori' Sosnovske

Lorena J. ‘Lori’ Sosnovske, 86, of Merrill, formerly of Gleason, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.

Lorena was born November 16, 1937, in Merrill, daughter of Herbert and Dorothy (Bergman) Lee and grew up on a farm in Langlade County. As a youth, Lori was a member of 4-H in Langlade County. She graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1955. After graduation, Lori spent six years in Milwaukee doing office and factory work. During a trip home for the weekend, she met Louis Sosnovske. They were married on May 29, 1962.

Lori kept busy by helping her husband on their dairy farm and raising four children. She enjoyed field work, especially chopping, raking, and bailing hay. She drove a tractor on the family farm until she was 80 years old. Her involvement in 4-H continued when she became a leader for the Dudley Doo-Rites and proceeded onto becoming a member of the 4-H Leaders Association in Lincoln County.

Lori was a longtime member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. She was a member of the Worthwhile Women’s Club in the Town of Summit and the Merrill Chamber of Commerce Dairy Promotion Committee. Lori was also a charter member of the Gleason Lion’s Club and collected eyeglasses for the Wisconsin Lions Foundation. She volunteered with the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, AMPI, and Foremost Farms Women’s Dairy Promotion. You could find her scooping ice cream at various places including Hodag, the county Fair, and Gleason Lions Club activities. Lori was a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers. She enjoyed country music, bowling, gardening, baking, quilting, and needlework. She especially enjoyed helping her son Marty and grandson Ben with their maple syrup production.

Survivors include her children, Brenda Sosnovske of Kewaunee, WI, Tena (Steve) Peterson of Gleason, Marty (Mary) Sosnovske of Gleason, and Cory (Anastasia) Sosnovske of Stevens Point; six grandchildren, Jessica (Steven) Cak, Jeri Peterson, Ben Sosnovske, Drexel Sosnovske, Alexander Sosnovske, and Maxwell Sosnovske; three sisters, Patricia Hubbard of Milton, WI, Janet (David) Way of Stevens Point, and Jane (Greg) Brown of Pensacola, FL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lori was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Sosnovske; parents, Herbert and Dorothy Lee; granddaughter, Alissa ‘Aly’ Sosnovske; and brothers-in-law, Charles Hubbard and Robert (Betty) Sosnovske.

The memorial service for Lori will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. Rev. Greg Laska will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:00 A.M. Saturday. The inurnment will take place at Summit Cemetery, Langlade County. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
