Konrad Surber

April 1, 1944 — September 16, 2021

Konrad Surber, age 77, of Merrill, passed away September 16, 2021, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Konrad was born April 1, 1944, in Regensberg, Switzerland. He came to the United States in 1969 and purchased the Hilltop Farm in the Town of Corning. His operation eventually became a 300-acre dairy farm, and it was the pride and joy of his life. He adored his prized Brown Swiss cattle and enjoyed working with farm genetics. Konrad loved his farming community and loved attending the Merrill 4-H Fair. Konrad enjoyed the fellowship at Pine Ridge Restaurant in Merrill where he met his dear friends Gene Bebel and the late Garth Swanson. Survivors include his daughters, Rebekka Surber of Merrill and Katherina (Mark) Chapman of Bloomington, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, and Matthew; his former spouse, Rosa Surber of Merrill; two sisters, Ida and Vreni both of Switzerland; and a sister-in-law, Roswith who resides in Canada. Konrad was preceded in death by three siblings, Anna Marie, Heiri, and Fritz. The family would like to thank Lisa Weix and staff for the excellent ‘in home’ care provided to Konrad at his residence prior to him moving into Pine Crest Nursing Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill is assisting the family.
