Jeannette Lorraine Sommi

Jeannette L. Sommi, 91, of Merrill passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Jeannette was born October 16, 1929 in the Town of Schley, Lincoln County, daughter of the late Reinhardt and Ella (Pruesser) Krueger. She married Jacob Sommi on June 30, 1951. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2016. Jeannette was the office manager at the former Merrill Medical Associates. Jeannette graduated from the former Lincoln County Normal School and during her earlier years she taught in one room schools throughout Lincoln County. At one point Jeannette and her husband Jake owned and operated a bar in the Town of Corning called ‘Sommi’s Country Inn’. She enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, and taking trips with Jake and their friends. Jeannette is survived by her daughter, Bonnie J. Krause (with Marie Beckstrom) of Merrill; her son, Byron J. Sommi (and his wife, Jane) of Freedom, Wisconsin; four grandsons, Josh and Adam Krause, both of Merrill, and Steven Sommi and Peter (Amber) Sommi, both of Appleton; seven great grandchildren, Mackenah, Johnny, Ace, Gavin, Corbin, Lena, and Sloane; one brother, Kenneth (Mitzi) Krueger of Merrill; and a sister in law, Sharon Krueger of Gleason. Besides her parents and husband, Jeannette is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy (Bill) Hommerding; and two brothers, Donald (Betty) Krueger and Leonard Krueger.
