Jan M. Gartmann

Jan M. Gartmann, 59, of Rothschild, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Jan was born on September 25, 1964, on a U.S. Army Post in Verdun, France, daughter of Jan D. and Joanne (Skrbec) Milos. Growing up, Jan and the family lived in various places due to her father’s service in the Marines, Army, and Air Force. Jan was always proud of the military heritage in her family. Jan graduated from Layton High School in Layton, Utah in 1982. She met Mark Gartmann while he was serving in the military and they were married on December 3, 1987, in Utah. He survives. Jan attended UW-Stevens Point and received a two-year degree. She received her mediation certification in Minnesota and worked as a mediator around the area.

Jan was a great cook and an even better baker. Jan had an avid curiosity for life. She enjoyed going to garage sales and thrift shopping. She was very crafty and talented at decorating and also enjoyed redoing furniture. Jan also enjoyed sewing and tending to her flower gardens. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Gartmann of Rothschild; mother, Joanne Milos of Clearfield, Utah; daughter, Victoria Gartmann (Joey Vanouse) of Rib Mountain; sons, Colby Gartmann (Jade Romatowski) of Wausau, Zachary (Mackenzie) Gartmann of Kronenwetter; and Austin Gartmann of Wausau; grandchildren, Maiya and Caedyn Gartmann and Walker and August Gartmann; sisters, Mary Jane Milos of Clearfield, Utah and Peggy Milos (Mark Greenman) of Hooper, Utah; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Jan was preceded in death by her father, Jan D. Milos; and father-in-law, Rueben Gartmann.

The funeral service for Jan will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Deacon Jim Arndt will preside. Interment will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the funeral home. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
