Hope L. Reinhardt

September 28, 1932 — July 8, 2022

Reinhardt, Hope L. Hope L. (Bartelt) Reinhardt, age 89, of Green Bay died on Friday, July 8, 2022, at her home. She was born in Merrill, WI on September 28, 1932, to the late Erwin and Grace (Pigeon) Bartelt. Hope was a long-time member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Green Bay, WI. She is survived by her loving husband Paul, of 67 years, who diligently cared for her during many years of an extended illness. Hope attended St. John Lutheran School in Merrill and graduated from Merrill High School in 1950. After graduation, she worked at the D&M Beauty Shop in Merrill where she obtained her cosmetology and cosmetology manager license. In 1954, Hope and Paul were married at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill. Shortly thereafter, Paul served in the U.S. Army where Hope joined him in Kentucky and Louisiana. Hope continued to work as a beautician during Paul’s service and while he attended the University of Wisconsin Madison. Upon Paul’s college graduation, Hope began her most important role in life as mother, and later grandmother. While raising their children, Hope and Paul lived in Wausau, Marinette, and Green Bay WI where Paul worked for Wisconsin Public Service Corporation. After the kids were grown, Paul accepted a position at Bay State Gas Company in Boston, MA, where they lived for five years. They returned to their home in Green Bay upon Paul’s retirement in 1995. Hope, known to many as “Hopie,” was a “no frills” woman who enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and had a natural gift for relating to children. The Reinhardt home was always a place where the kids and their friends were welcome to play and hang out. Hope loved to sing and was known for her ability to burst into song on any given topic. She also enjoyed roller skating and polka dancing with Paul in their early years, knitting, and later in life reading and playing with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Hope is survived by their three children Paula (Carl) Zeilon of Apple Valley, MN, Jay (Karla) Reinhardt of Eagan, MN, and Judy (Wayne) Doherty of Prior Lake, MN; six grandchildren: Stuart and Parker Zeilon, Andrew and Griffin Reinhardt, and Angela and Shawn Doherty; brother-in-law Charles Reinhardt, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Charles and Dean Bartelt. The funeral service for Hope will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Pastor Scott Malme will officiate. Burial will take place in Snow Hill Cemetery, Town of Scott. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family. The family expresses its sincere gratitude for years of care and support provided by Unity Hospice, Home Instead, St. Vincent’s Home Health Care, Dr. Kevin Sandmire, Pastor Scott Malme, friends and neighbors.
