Eugene A. Rowe, 87, lifelong resident of Merrill, died on Monday, July 22, 2024, peacefully at home.
Born to Albert and Myrtle (Nelson) Rowe on May 15, 1937. He worked many jobs in his life. Some of the places he worked were Schulz’s Wrecking, Anson & Gilkey, Wire Products, Northern Wire, Stokely USA (bean cannery), and most recently before he retired, Lincoln Wood Products – starting there on the assembly line and transferring to the job he loved most being a maintenance worker. He and his wife were very hard workers and instilled that same work ethic in both their children.
One of his favorite hobbies from retirement to the time of his death was to work on small engines including lawn mowers and snowblowers. Everyone knew him as the guy on Cty K with mowers. One of his passion projects he completed was to restore a 1922 Model T “Doctor’s Coupe” made into a pickup for him and his wife. Another project was to restore a 1923 Model T “Depot Hack” for his son. He loved being outside and was a man of strong faith and being there for and with his family. One of his favorite pastimes was to take leisurely casino trips with his wife and later his daughter. He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers.
Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Judith ‘Judy’ Rowe; son, Timothy ‘Tim’ ‘Doughboy’ Rowe; sisters, Mary Green, Margaret Rice, Carol Zank, Bonnie Buntrock, and infant Betty Mae Rowe; and brother, Lloyd Rowe. He is survived by sister, Barbara (Hank) Bie of Antigo; daughter, Janie ‘Jane’ Rowe (Jamie LeSage) of Merrill; daughter-in-law, Brenda Rowe of Merrill; and grandson, Brian Rowe (Cammie Schram), great granddaughter, Braylee Rowe, step great granddaughter, Adriana Schram, and step great grandson Riley Schram all of Merrill. He is further survived by his special adopted daughter, Kim Schwartz; and many nieces and nephews.
