Daniel F. Johnson, 75, of Merrill, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024.
Dan was born August 28, 1948, in Illinois, son of the late Harland and Lois (Shea) Johnson. He married Claudette ‘Claude’ Sabatke on February 10, 1968. He was married to the love of his life for 52 years. Claude preceded him in death on December 10, 2020.
Dan completed the Millwright course and apprenticeship at N.T.C. in Wausau. He received his Wisconsin Certification of Apprenticeship as a Millwright on September 19, 1989, and worked many years at Wausau Paper Mill in Brokaw.
Dan enjoyed watching sports in his home stadium and golfing with friends. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s accomplishments and greatly enjoyed cheering them on from the sidelines. Dan loved spending time with his family, especially being the captain and teaching the kids to co-captain the pontoon while enjoying the day up at the family’s river property. He also enjoyed dining out and socializing with many friends.
Survivors include his children, Peggy Boehm of Merrill and Dustin (Rebekah) Johnson of Merrill; grandchildren, Danielle Boehm, Charlotte (Tyson) Krause, Kassandra Johnson, Devon Johnson, Myia Johnson, and Alexander Johnson; great-grandchildren, Eli Boehm, Asher Reinke, Valerie Reinke, Colt Krause, and Cash Krause; brother, Mike (Deana) Johnson of Alabama; and two nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Claudette ‘Claude’ Johnson; parents, Harland and Lois Johnson; and brother, Scott Johnson.
A memorial visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Michael Southcombe officiating
