Claudette ‘Claude’ Johnson, 73, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Claude was born June 3, 1947, in Lincoln County, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Ellsworth and Dorothy (Krause) Sabatke. She married Daniel F. Johnson on February 10, 1968. He survives. Claude had worked for many years as a waitress at the Hoffman House in Wausau. She also worked as a cook at the former Scott Elementary School in Merrill. Later on, Claude took a job at Hurd Millwork in Merrill, where she worked until her retirement. Claude’s family was so important to her and she was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Daniel F. Johnson of Merrill; daughter, Peggy Boehm of Merrill; son, Dustin (Rebekah) Johnson of Merrill; grandchildren, Danielle Boehm, Charlotte (Tyson) Krause, and Kassandra, Devon, Myia, and Alexander Johnson; great-grandchildren, Eli Boehm, Asher and Valerie Reinke, and Colt Krause; and siblings, John (Marlene) Sabatke of Wausau, and Dale (Sarah) Sabatke, Mark ‘Porky’ (Becky) Sabatke, Pat Kollath, Sue Wiederhoeft, and Arlene (Alan) Pfalz all of Merrill. Claude was preceded in death by her parents, Ellsworth Sabatke and Dorothy Sabatke; and siblings, Joe Sabatke, David Sabatke, and Pam Spoehr. In accordance with Claude’s wishes, there will be no services. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
