Carol (Seehafer) Duwe was born December 24, 1937, the daughter of Edward and Wilma (Calder) Seehafer. Carol passed away October 20, 2024. She married Gerald Duwe on May 7, 1960, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. He passed away November 14, 2023.
Carol was a 1955 graduate of Merrill High School. She attended the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point and also took courses at Northcentral Technical College and the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She enjoyed working on her high school class reunion.
She retired from the accounting department at the former Semco Windows and Doors, Merrill, where she worked for 35 years. She was a substitute teacher’s aide after her retirement.
Carol taught Sunday School, worked in the nursery, and was on the church Medical Ministry team for St. Stephens United Church of Christ. She was a mentor for her grandson’s confirmation.
Carol always put her family first. She was generous in her love and support. She loved education and enjoyed puzzles, reading, computer games, playing cards, and traveling. She was a charter member of the Devils’ Creek Stump Jumpers Snowmobile Club and a charter member of Pommerscher Verein.
Carol always kept in contact with her college friends, Marilyn, Lila, Viv, and Mary Ann.
Survivors include her children, Brent (Crystal) Duwe of Merrill and Matt (Tammy) Duwe of Merrill; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Renzelmann and Tanner Duwe; and great-grandchildren, Allie, Aubrey, and Joe Renzelmann. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Seehafer. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Duwe; parents, Edward and Wilma Seehafer; sister, Joyce (David ‘Tinker) Knospe; brother, David (Judy) Seehafer; sister-in-law, Carol (Lask) Seehafer; and grandson, Tyler Holbach.

The memorial service for Carol will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 28, 2024, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Michael Southcombe will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. The burial will take place in Snow Hill Cemetery, Town of Scott, at a later date.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill.
