Alex Langbecker, age 98, of Merrill, died Friday, January 29, 2016, at Artisan Living Center, Merrill. Alex was born October 23, 1917, in the town of Corning, Lincoln County, son of the late Otto and Emma Langbecker. Alex dairy farmed in the town of Corning. He enjoyed photography, reading, tending to his fish pond years ago, hunting, fishing, and the company of his dog ‘Polly’. Alex was self taught on the computer and enjoyed the internet. Survivors include his brother in law, Ellsworth Raasch of Merrill; eight nieces and nephews, Marceda (Don) Strasburg of Minocqua, Leila Marnholtz, Marlene Luedtke, Karen Haenel (with friend, Jerome), Eugene Langbecker, Myron ‘Mike’ (Jean) Langbecker, and Larry (Chris) Langbecker, all of Merrill, and Rick (Karen) Langbecker, of Wausau; along with other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, Alex is preceded in death by three siblings, George (wife, Mable) Langbecker, Clara (husband, Melvin) Thompson, and Helena Raasch. The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. The Rev. Missy Holdorf will officiate. Burial will follow in Snow Hill Cemetery, town of Scott. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
